Mount Fuji Shore Excursion from Tokyo

Itinerary Overview

Your private Mount Fuji shore excursion begins at 9:00 AM with pickup from the Yokohama Cruise Terminal. Travel by private vehicle to the Mount Fuji area and visit Arakurayama Sengen Shrine and Chureito Pagoda, famous for its iconic view of the five-story pagoda with Mount Fuji in the background. Continue to Oshino Hakkai, a picturesque traditional village known for its eight crystal-clear ponds fed by filtered snowmelt from Mount Fuji.

After enjoying lunch in the Fuji area, proceed to Lake Kawaguchiko, one of the best locations for panoramic views and photographs of Mount Fuji. Depending on weather, visibility, and traffic conditions, an additional scenic photo stop may be included before departing for Tokyo. Relax during the private drive to the city, arriving at your Tokyo hotel at approximately 7:00 PM, completing this convenient 10-hour Yokohama–Mount Fuji–Tokyo shore excursion and transfer.

Start: Disembark at Tokyo or Yokohama cruise port (~8:00-9:00) Morning: Depart for Mount Fuji Mid-day: Arakurayama Sengen Shrine, Chureito Pagoda, Oshino Hakkai, and Lake Kawaguchiko. Drop-off: Tokyo hotel (~6:00 -7:00 PM)

Sample Itinerary: YOKOHAMA-MT FUJI Shore Excursion

One-Day Express: Cruise Pickup → Hakone → Tokyo/Airport

A perfect post-cruise excursion combining some of the most iconic views of Mount Fuji with a convenient final transfer directly to your hotel in Tokyo.

9:00 AM – Pickup at Yokohama Cruise Terminal

Meet your private guide and driver at the cruise terminal. Your luggage will travel with you in the vehicle throughout the day.

9:00 AM – 10:30 AM – Drive to the Mount Fuji Area

Leave Yokohama and travel toward the Fuji Five Lakes region. On clear days, you may begin seeing Mount Fuji as you approach the area.

10:30 AM – 11:45 AM | Arakurayama Sengen Shrine & Chureito Pagoda

新倉山浅間公園・忠霊塔

Visit one of Japan's most recognizable Mount Fuji viewpoints—the famous five-story Chureito Pagoda overlooking Fujiyoshida with magnificent Mount Fuji in the background.

This is the symbolic view featured on the homepage of Japan Adventure Club and one of the country's most photographed landscapes.

The pagoda was built as a peace memorial in 1963 and sits on the mountainside above Arakura Sengen Shrine. Reaching the classic observation area involves approximately 400 steps, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

The scenery is particularly beautiful during cherry blossom season in April and autumn foliage season in November.

12:00 PM – 1:00 PM | Oshino Hakkai

忍野八海

Continue to the traditional village of Oshino and explore Oshino Hakkai, a collection of eight beautiful spring-fed ponds near the base of Mount Fuji.

The remarkably clear water originates from snowmelt on Mount Fuji, naturally filtered through underground layers of volcanic rock over many decades.

Enjoy a leisurely walk around the ponds, traditional thatched-roof scenery, small shops and local specialties. On a clear day, the village also provides lovely views of Mount Fuji.

1:00 PM – 2:00 PM | Lunch

Enjoy lunch in the Mount Fuji area. Your guide can assist with selecting a local restaurant based on your preferences.

2:15 PM – 3:30 PM | Lake Kawaguchiko

河口湖

Visit Lake Kawaguchiko, one of the Fuji Five Lakes and one of the best locations for panoramic views of Mount Fuji.

Depending on weather and seasonal conditions, your guide will select a suitable lakeside viewpoint for photographs and a relaxing walk.

The scenery is especially impressive when Mount Fuji is snow-capped, during the cherry blossom season in spring, and when brilliant red and gold foliage surrounds the lake in autumn.

Practical planning

Comfort and timing come first.

Timing & routing

Tokyo is vast. A focused route is more satisfying than trying to cross the city repeatedly in one port day.

Walking & mobility

Routes can minimize stairs and long station walks by using a private vehicle and curb-side access where permitted.

Before we confirm

We need the cruise line, ship, port date, scheduled arrival and departure, number of guests, and any mobility considerations.
